Lutheran Church of the Cross, Port Charlotte, Florida will again this year be the site of a very interesting and timely continuing education opportunity from August 11-13, 2008.  A course entitled, “Equipped to Serve” will be presented by Dr. Harold L. Senkbeil, Associate Professor, Pastoral Ministry and Missions and Doctor of Ministry program Supervisor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This seminar is designed to help elected and volunteer leaders of congregations review the responsibilities of lay leadership within the broader context of Lutheran identity, mission, and worship.  Time is also given during the course to work-shopping common challenges faced by congregation officers.  Pastors are encouraged to bring their lay leaders to the seminar.

Lutheran Church of the Cross is located in Port Charlotte, Florida, a small community on the banks of Charlotte Harbor, a large natural estuary about 100 miles south of Tampa Bay on Florida’s southwest coast.  It is about half way between Sarasota to the north and Naples to the south.

Before or after the course, attendees and their families will be able to visit the nearby beaches, enjoy boating or fishing on beautiful Charlotte Harbor, or take in a round of golf on any of a number of well maintained golf courses.  Additionally, Disney World is only 3 hours away and Busch Gardens and Cypress Gardens are approximately 2 hours away.

The Concordia House of Studies (CHS) of the Florida-Georgia District is pleased to support the efforts of Pastor Redmann and Lutheran Church of the Cross in their efforts to provide quality continuing educational experiences.  CHS joins Lutheran Church of the Cross and Concordia Theological Seminary with an invitation for you to take this opportunity to: grow in your knowledge and understanding of Biblical and theological matters; refresh your mind and find new enthusiasm; and connect with others in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.

Register by July 11, 2008 online at www.ctsfw.edu or by calling the seminary at 260-452-2241.  Additional course information is available on the Lutheran Church of the Cross website, www.lccross.org, and additional site information including directions and lodging availability can be obtained by emailing Lutheran Church of the Cross at secretary@lccross.org or calling 941-627-6060.
